Market Days is not just a street festival.
If you've been before, you already know. If this is your first time — welcome. You're about to experience one of the biggest, most electric LGBTQ+ street festivals in the country, right in the heart of Boystown, Chicago.
Two days. Multiple stages. Thousands of people. And the kind of energy that only happens when the community fully shows up for itself.
Here's everything you need to know to do it right.
What Is Market Days Chicago?
Market Days is an annual two-day street festival held every August in Boystown — Chicago's historic LGBTQ+ neighborhood along North Halsted Street. It's one of the largest gay street festivals in the United States, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees from Chicago and around the world. Go to (amirmorris.com) to read about my personal experince at Marketdays.
There is live music across multiple stages, local vendors, bars spilling onto the street, food, art, and the kind of crowd that makes it feel like there is something for everybody there. Market Days is summer in Chicago at its absolute peak.
When & Where
📅 August 9–10, 2025 📍 North Halsted Street, Boystown, Chicago 🕐 Saturday & Sunday, 11AM – 10PM
What to Wear to Market Days
Let's be honest, half the events you'll be half naked. BUT, many of the main events like CircuitMom, has a theme. So if you want a chance to be featured on their video recap, and an amazing photo early in the night by their hired photographer, you'd better dress the part.
Market Days in August means heat, crowds, and hours on your feet in the sun. You want something that looks good, moves well, and can handle a full day of festival energy without falling apart.
Our recommendation: keep it minimal, keep it bold.

Briefs or the Heritage Collection, swim shorts are the move for the daytime. The streets are
packed, the bars are open, and nobody is overdressed. This is the one weekend of the year where showing up in your SLTBURN and a pair of sneakers is not only acceptable, it's expected.
If you've been to the Hydrate stage, you know the dancers are dressed in speedos, harnesses and an assortment of unique looks. So literally this is the weekend to wear that sexy set you ordered that shows the body you've been working on all year.
A few things worth keeping in mind:
Sunscreen is non-negotiable. You will be outside for hours and you will forget how much sun you're getting until it's too late. Bring it. Apply it. Reapply it. Especially if you have plans to go to Hollywood Beach, the infamous gay beach of Chicago.
Comfortable shoes matter more than you think. The festival runs for blocks and you will be on your feet all day. Plan accordingly.
Bring a small bag or fanny pack. You'll want your hands free.
Stay hydrated. The bars are everywhere but so is the heat.

Tips From Someone Who's Actually Been There
Get there early on Saturday. The crowds build fast and the best vendor spots go quickly. If you want to actually browse and shop without fighting through thousands of people, Saturday morning is your window.
The side streets matter. Everyone flocks to the main strip but some of the best energy is on the side streets and in the bars just off Halsted. Explore.
Pace yourself. Two days is a marathon, not a sprint. Know your limits, take breaks, eat real food, and you'll actually enjoy both days instead of burning out by Sunday afternoon.
Pick a meet up spot. It's easy to lose your friends, and with so many people your cell phone service will be shot. So pick a meet up spot early on and organize a check in time.
Share your location. You might meet the love of your live, or the lust of the night, whatever you end up doing, make sure at least 2 people have your location at all times. Your safety is more important than toxic dick and demonic twinks.
The Bottom Line
Market Days is one of those events that reminds you why community matters. It's loud, it's proud, it's sweaty, and it's exactly where you're supposed to be.
Come through. Find us at Mens Room. Show up in your SLTBURN.
